Its been a pretty remote six days in the Red Centre, with no wifi. But that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy!
We’ve walked around the base of Uluru – quiet, peaceful and atmospheric. Then a rocky, hilly walk at Kata Tjuta, with the most fantastic views. A candle lit meal in the desert under the stars completed our time at Ayers Rock. Next stop was Kings Canyon – the Grand Canyon of Australia. 500 steps took us to the walk around the rim, with breath-taking views and picturesque waterholes. The Red Centre isn’t living up to its name – recent rain has resulted in everything bursting into life, with numerous pretty flowers. Oh, have you seen the news? A volcanic eruption is stopping flights out of Darwin! Might get a longer holiday than we planned!
A long day in the car today – 500km, and we are now in the relative civilisation of Alice Springs. A brief rest before the next leg – 24 hours on the Ghan train to Darwin.
